Almost 12 months ago I completed the coast to coast, cycling from Whitehaven on the west coast of England to Sunderland on the east coast.

Why? To raise £2000 which I intended to share between 2 charities, The Stroke Association and Meningitis Trust. The real driving force behind the challenge was the death of my cousin Aman and close family friend Steve at tragically young ages.
We missed the target by £300. So, what can I do about that? Get on my bike and do it again!
Saturday 18th June 2011 I am off to Cumbria again to raise the final £300 by doing the 140 mile ride again. I am not sure if the knowledge of having completed the ride last year is a good thing. This time round I know the pain that I can expect peddling uphill for 5 miles up Hartside Pass. This was my lowest point moral wise last year. It comes at around 70 miles and the hill is relentless. I remember feeling so sick when I got off the bike at the top I felt like crying. But with a good support crew around me, lots of tea and food I eventually completed the ride at 19:40 in the evening having started at 05:00 in the morning.
This year I have 5 other mad people doing the ride with me. I also have a great support crew made up of: My wife Julie, My mum and dad, Roberta, Andrew and Cathy Boothby (driving the support van)
